Geographic Information Systems Advisory Committee
Tuesday December 6th, 2005: Official Charge for the Committee
We, the Rockport Board of Selectmen, charge the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Advisory Committee to provide the Board of Selectmen with recommendations for the various benefits and uses derived from GIS technology. To do so they should perform a needs-assessment process and recommend steps to assist, promote and develop a shared geographic information system resource for local decision makers and the various Departments within the Town of Rockport. Their task will involve identification of the information and data needed, base map reference standardization, determining users and necessary staffing. They shall evaluate various implementation strategies to include pricing, development of data structures, suggested standards with user guidelines and how to coordinate with federal, regional, state and local agencies. The Committee is to accomplish its objectives and present its final report to the Board of Selectmen by November 30, 2006, with an interim progress report by June 1, 2006.
