Inspection Services Department

The mission of the Department of Inspection Services is to ensure that the built environment within the Town of Rockport is a safe place for all people to live, work, learn, worship or visit.

  • This is to be accomplished through fair and consistent enforcement of, and inspection for compliance with, all State and Local Rules and Regulations applicable to construction and building occupancy.
  • It is our wish to assist every applicant to achieve their goals within the Codes, Ordinances, Rules and Regulations under our jurisdiction.
This office performs the following functions:

  • Plan and application review for Zoning and Code Compliance.

  • Zoning Bylaws
  • Issuance of Permits.
  • Thorough and professional completion of all field inspections.
  • Issuance of Occupancy Permits.
  • Maintenance of accurate and complete records.
  • Customer service whether for construction project, zoning or code interpretation, or complaint resolution.

  • Decks and Stairs
  • Additions
  • Alterations
  • Repairs
  • Remodel
  • Demolition
  • Renovations
  • Tool Sheds
  • Swimming Pools
  • Wood Stoves/Pellet Stoves
  • New Construction

Office Hours

    Office open daily 8:00am to 3:00pm
    Building Inspector Office Hours - Mon/Wed/Thur - 8:00am to 10:00am, 1:00pm to 3:00pm
    Tuesday - 8:30am to 10:00am, 1:00pm to 3:00pm, 4:00pm - 6:00pm
    Friday - 8:00am to 10:00am
    Inspections done by appointment only 10:00am to 12:00pm and 3:00pm to 4:00pm
      Fees - $7.00 per thousand based on the estimated cost of construction. Minimum fee - $35.00

    Wiring Inspector Monday - Friday - 6:45am to 7:15am
    Inspections done by appointment only
      Fees - $2.00 per thousand based on cost of construction with building permit.Maintain fees from old schedule for individual items if no building permit. Minimum fee - $25.00

    Plumbing Inspector Monday - Wednesday - Friday - 6:30am to 7:30am
    Inspections done by appointment only
      Fees - $40 per application plus $10 per fixture for commercial work or new construction.
      $20 per application plus $10 per fixture for additions, renovations or repair/replacement.
