METROPOLITAN AREA PLANNING COUNCIL (MAPC)
The MAPC is made up of 101 municipalities in the Boston Metropolitan Area. Rockport is an active member of the Council. Selectman Charles H. Clark is the appointed Rockport representative. The Council has a staff of full time professionals and is involved in overall long range planning for the entire region. Individual issues include build out studies, transportation, environmental, economic, housing, grants, comprehensive 418 Study, etc. Quarterly meetings are conducted by MAPC, which involve Staff Members, municipal and gubernatorial representatives, and invited guests.
TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS (TIPS)
TIPS projects are coordinated with MAPC. Projects that meet the set criteria may be reviewed for consideration for possible State or Federal Funding. Selectman Charles H. Clark is the TIPS Coordinator for Rockport.
