  • Location - 37 Rear Broadway (directly across the street from Town Hall)
  • Telephone 978-546-6547
  • Inquiries about parking, payments or requests for a hearing - Telephone 978-546-6547

PAY PARKING TICKET IMMEDIATELY using ticket mailer (do not mail currency), drop off ticket w/cash or check at the Parking Clerk Office, or after hours in a sealed envelope in drop box inside rear door of Town Hall or next to Parking Clerk's front door.

CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS use the on-line payment option below or the following phone number: 1-866-980-5363. REGISTRY CLEARANCES MAY TAKE UP TO FOUR DAYS.

PAY ON LINE at Parking Ticket Payment.

GRACE PERIOD 21 DAYS in which to pay or query ticket. After 21 days a $10.00 late fee is added and an Overdue Notice sent to violator. Balances remaining unpaid subject to further fines, including a city fee of $15.00 and culminating in the marking of driver’s license/registration for non-renewal at Registry of Motor Vehicles and an additional fine of $20.00 imposed. Payments for these “marked tickets” must be made by money order or in person by cash. Parking Clerk will issue the driver a Certified Receipt which he/she must take to the nearest office of the Registry in order to renew license/registration. But first, the Registry requires full payment of all outstanding tickets on one's vehicles anywhere in the State.

APPEALING A PARKING TICKET must be done within 21 days from the date of the violation. Appeals after this 21 day period will be heard solely at the discretion of the hearing officer and may not be granted. All appeals must be in writing. They may be done online at: Parking Ticket Appeal. Or on a form which may be printed Appeal Form.

The following do not constitute valid reasons for dismissing a ticket:

*You did not see the NO PARKING sign or RESIDENTS ONLY sign.
*You did not know that parking was restricted in that area (such as a RESIDENTS ONLY parking zone).
*You were only there for a short time.
*You have never been ticketed for this violation before.
*Obstructing traffic or parking on a crosswalk or sidewalk is a violation even if it is only partial.
*There were no other places to park.
*You think that the fine is too high and can't afford to pay it.

    HANDICAP PARKING

is available in several locations throughout the Town at marked spots. Those with placards may also park at any public metered spot without "feeding" the meter. All other parking rules will be in effect. Handicap parking is not available in any resident areas, unless one has a resident parking sticker.

    OTHER HELPFUL INFORMATION

RESIDENT LOTS are next to Town Hall, Tee Wharf, Bradley Wharf and Old Harbor. These lots are available for only residents with annual sticker, purchased from Dept. of Public Works. Stickers are renewable each year during the month of May. The resident stickers are also good at many locations near the beaches.

OUT OF TOWN RESIDENTS & OTHERS MAY RENEW BY MAIL AHEAD OF TIME – helpful form available from DPW, or call 978-546-3525. This avoids getting a ticket for parking in Resident lot after the sticker has expired.

RESIDENT STICKERS are in effect all year both in the Resident Lots and at the Beach.
